SYO Says Farewell to Long-time Supporter and Friend
On Saturday, September 30th, long time Saginaires & Northern Aurora supporter Larry Fitzpatrick passed away at home, in his sleep. Larry was the father of Jamie, Sean and Kevin, all percussionists for the corps. His wife Carol was also actively involved in the corps. Please keep them in your thoughts during this extremely difficult time. Drop them a line in Saginaw or send them a card.

May 2000: Northcoast Academy, the Saginaires Youth Organization's award-winning winterguard, made Finals at Indianapolis, Midwest, and Mideast Regionals this season, finishing from 3rd to 6th places. Northcoast also won the Michigan Colorguard Championships with an 87.9 on April 8th, 2000. At World Championships, Northcoast only missed making semifinals by one-tenth of a point.
Says Northcoast director Steve Yoder, "It was a very good season and the kids were much better than their first year. That is what we want -- growth in the program." Membership is already coming in for the 2001 season, which begins with weapons rehearsal in June. In April 2001, the Michigan Colorguard Championships will again be held at Saginaw Valley State University. Nationals will be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin during the third week of April 2001.
In addition, several "Coasters" are marching with Carolina Crown this summer. Best of luck to all our members!
12 June 1999: Alumni from The Saginaires, The Saginaires Eagles, Northern Aurora, and Northcoast Academy convened at the Corps Hall in Saginaw for the first Alumni Workday. The main goal, to clean out the attic of the Corps Hall, was accomplished, and many old guard props, costumes, flags, and uniforms were unearthed. Several boxes of trophies were revealed, as well, and are now on display in the Corps Hall. All alumni are welcome to adopt a trophy of their very own -- a voluntary donation is requested.
